Hi, For those of you who don’t know us, we are Simon and Helen Ward. Our boat, Kairos 11, is a beautiful Moody 336 and a usual summer would find us sailing from our base in Mengeham Rythe, Hayling Island, which is just inside Chichester Harbour on the south coast of England. This summer, however, will see us leaving out mooring on 1st June to fulfil one of our bucket list dreams of sailing around the UK, whilst also raising awareness of and funds for The National Autistic Society.
Between us, we have many years sailing experience and have sailed extensively in the Solent, around the north coast of France, Kent and the East Coast of England and in the Greek Islands but this is our first experience of really long range cruising and it is with a lot of excitement, mixed with just a little trepidation, that we will set off on our 3 month journey, which will take us sailing into some of the most picturesque. some of the most remote and some of the busiest areas around our coast.
We have set up this blog to a) keep in touch with friends and family b) to provide an ongoing, online diary of our travels, especially showing how we are doing with our challenge to raise funds for NAS and raise awareness of autism and c) to provide a record, tips and ideas for other sailors who may be planning a similar sailing odyssey. We hope you enjoy it and thanks for following. add another page.
